Finding information about someone online can seem daunting, especially if all you have is their name. However, there are several online resources available that can help you. This article outlines five methods that can be used to look up someone online.

1. True People Search

True People Search is one of the best people search engines for finding people online and it’s free. This tool allows you to search for a person using a name, and after the search, it will display a wealth of information about the person, including

• Current and past addresses
• Phone numbers
• Email addresses
• Aliases
• Relatives and associates

During our test, this website did an awesome job tracking down the person we were looking for. However, the information may not always be current, particularly if the person has recently moved or changed their phone number.

2. Fast People Search

Similar to True People Search, Fast People Search is a powerful people search engine that delivers detailed information for free.

During our test, the results we got from this tool were almost the same as what we got from True People Search. We’re able to view the following information:

• Age
• Addresses (current and past)
• Phone numbers
• Aliases
• Possible relatives and associates
• Email addresses

However, if you click on the “VIEW FULL BACKGROUND REPORT” or the “VIEW DETAILS” button on the report page, it will redirect you to a paid people search tool.

3. WhatsMyName

If you’re interested in digging out someone’s information, you can also use an online profile search tool like WhatsMyName.

This website lets you search for someone’s name or online username and find out if it was used on other websites, including social media networks, dating platforms, chat sites, and so on. If the person you’re looking for has created any profiles using their name on the web, this tool should be able to pick it up.

To use this tool, enter the username into the search box and click the search icon on the left to start the search. You’ll be able to view a list of links to social media profiles using the same username. Click each link to view details about the profile owner and see if you can locate the person you’re looking for.

4. TruthFinder

I’ve compared multiple people search tools, and TruthFinder has been my go-to site when I need more reliable information.

It’s a subscription-based tool for finding people’s background information, criminal records, and online profiles. Unlike other tools we mentioned previously, all the results are locked behind the paywall, so you’ll need to purchase a membership to unlock the details.

After tracking down the person with TruthFinder, there’s a ton of information to sift through, including

• Birthdate

5. Social Catfish

Social Catfish is an online investigation service that allows you to verify the identity of someone you met online, check someone’s profiles on different social media/dating sites, and view detailed background information using just a name.

Like TruthFinder, this service also charges a fee to view the report. The report may contain details including:

• Profiles on different platforms
• Associates and relatives
• Photos
• Contact information

6. Arrests.org

If the person you know has been arrested before, you can also get a lot of details about them from their criminal records, including:

• Mugshots
• Full names
• Dates of birth
• Addresses
• Physical characteristics
• Arrest records

One useful website for this purpose is Arrests.org – a mugshot publishing website with satellite local sites for 39 US states. Arrests.org collects and posts mugshots by gathering information from public records such as police records, arrest records, court records, and booking information.

While mugshot websites like Arrests.org provide a public service by collecting and publishing criminal records, it’s important to note that all arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This means that finding an arrest record for someone doesn’t necessarily indicate their guilt. To conduct a more thorough investigation, you can search for relevant court records to see if the person has been convicted of the crime they were arrested for.

7. Google

Google offers different search tools that can be used to track down someone online from billions of databases. You can type the person’s name into the Google search field and use quotation marks to narrow down your searches.

For example, searching for “John Doe” will limit the results to pages containing this exact phrase.
