If you want to connect with someone on X (formerly Twitter)—whether it’s a friend or someone you’ve just met—there are several ways to find them.

1. Search on X

X has a search feature that allows you to look for people based on their display name or username.

To use this feature, tap the magnifying glass icon at the top left corner of the website. Then, type the person’s name into the search bar. You can also try searching their usernames from other social media platforms, as people often reuse usernames across multiple platforms.

Next, click the People tab to view users using the name you searched.

2. Search by Email or Phone Number

If you have the person’s email address or phone number, you can try uploading their contact details to X and see if there is an account linked to it.

1. Add the person’s email or phone number to your contact list.
2. Open X, and tap the Menu button.
3. Tap Settings and privacy > Privacy and safety > Discoverability and contacts >Sync address book contacts.
4. Tap Allow to grant the app permission to access your contacts.
   
5. X will highlight the X accounts associated with your contacts. Simply browse through the suggested user list to see if you can locate the person’s profile.

Note that if the person doesn’t allow their account to be found by their contact information, or they use a different email address or phone number on X, you won’t be able to find their account this way.

3. Search for Their Associates

We usually connect with people we know on social media platforms. So if you’ve connected with the person’s friends, coworkers, or family members on X, try browsing their Follower/Following list to see if you can locate the person there.

Alternatively, if you know the company the person works for, the university they attended, or an organization they belong to, try searching for the associated X accounts and see if they are on the Follower list.

4. Use a People Search Tool

If all else fails, you can try using a people search engine like Social Catfish, Spokeo, or TruthFinder to look up the person’s social media profiles.

People search tools are data brokers that collect information about individuals from various sources, including social media platforms and public records. They specialize in creating detailed profiles that may contain information such as your names, ages, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, online accounts, and more.

These services usually require a membership to access the search results, and auto-renewal is enabled by default. So, if you subscribe to any of these services, remember to cancel the subscription after the search to avoid being billed automatically.
